Status Report (2019.05.25) - Last call for order updates!
almost 5 years ago – Sat, May 25, 2019 at 07:57:09 PM

LAST CALL FOR ORDER UPDATES

The last day to make final updates to your order is May 30th. After this date, we will lock your reward selections and charge cards for add-on item purchases, pledge upgrades, and pre-orders.

If you're moving, you can still update your shipping address up until we lock addresses for shipping (later this summer).

If you need to review your information or pledge status, you can return to your survey by clicking the link in your survey email or requesting your survey link under "Lost your survey?" on our BackerKit project page at https://destinationdanger.backerkit.com/

If you haven’t answered your survey yet, if you fill out your BackerKit survey or pay for extra shipping after the May 30th order due date, we’ll still receive your information but your shipment may be delayed.  We would really hate to see backers who pledged to the campaign miss out on their fulfillment rewards because they neglected to respond to the survey.

That's it for now!

We look to have a slew of updates for y'all soon, but wanted to make sure we sent a timely reminder out before surveys lock.

Stay tuned...

Status Report (2019.05.08) - Print & Play sent via BackerKit, Houston Comicpalooza!
almost 5 years ago – Wed, May 08, 2019 at 07:34:53 PM

Tl;dr: Print & Play (and v1 of the Field Guide) has been sent out via BackerKit to those who pledged at $10 and up. Destination Danger will be at Comicpalooza in Houston, Texas - check out the game at the Dragon's Lair booth!

Print & Play

Assuming you pledged at least $10 to the Kickstarter campaign, which is the vast majority of you, you should have received an email blast from BackerKit with both the Destination Danger Print & Play AND the Field Guide. Both of these are flagged as v1 (version 1) and we can send out updated versions, if needed) before we do final fulfillment of the physical copies of the game. Also, we're trying to do this via BackerKit because it's baked in functionality... If any of you run into problems, let us know.

We're sorry it took longer than expected to deliver this - the delays were primarily due to the unlock of the alternative maps stretch goal and providing our artist enough time to finalize things. If you have substantive feedback on the Print & Play, or if there as aspects of the Field Guide that are not completely clear, please feel free to email us at [email protected]. We're human and it's likely we got a few things wrong, so please let us know what you see and we'll make corrections ASAP.

Comicpalooza!

Destination Danger will make an appearance at Comicpalooza (in Houston, Texas) this coming weekend! You'll find our great friend Bryan Campbell, at the Dragon's Lair booth, where he will be running some demo games and handing out a limited number of surprise goodies. If you see the booth, snag a picture and post it to the Destination Danger Facebook group!!!

Rumble in the Jungle

Oh, and Rumble in the Jungle (one of the two expansions) is nearing completion! Here's some of the final artwork.

Status Report (2019.04.20) - Fulfillment Update, Alt Maps Complete, and More!
about 5 years ago – Sat, Apr 20, 2019 at 10:31:07 PM

Tl;dr: Fulfillment will be a bit delayed from our initial forecast, which is a schedule adjustment only - no new project risks. Alternative maps for the core game are complete! General progress updates, including a ton of artwork in progress. BackerKit reminder.

--

Remind your friends and family that they can also get in on the Kickstarter Edition of Destination Danger by visiting our Pre-order page. The prices are not as awesome as being a backer, but you still get access to the first manufacturing run of the game and receive rewards at the same time as backers.

Fulfillment Update

Due to a few unforeseen delays and a passion to ensure we deliver the game you all deserve, we are still in the process of finalizing the core game and expansions prior to manufacturing.  What this means for each of you is that we are targeting the beginning of June for submission of our final renderings to manufacturers for production and we are anticipating fulfillment to start sometime in July

The silver lining is that we are all lined up for manufacturing and progressing swiftly on finalizing artwork, wrapping play tests of the expansions, and editing the Field Guide. We want to be clear that this is a change to our schedule and there are no new risks to the project! We will keep you informed throughout the process so you have as much information as we do. We are sorry we did not meet our initial target for fulfillment, and we grateful for your patience as we delay by a couple of months.

Alternative Maps COMPLETE!

Alternative Maps for the core campaigns have been completed by Worth Dayley. Note that we are still finalizing how we want the maps for the expansions to be laid out, and those are still forthcoming. Here's a look at the new maps which provide quite a bit more room for each campaign to play out.

We are thrilled with what Worth was able to do here, and hopefully you are too!

Additional Progress Updates

We are actively play testing "Rumble in the Jungle" and "Christmas on Easter Island" and learning a lot about how we think those expansion campaigns should run. The characters, items, and villains for each campaign are already in motion with Lindsay (our lead artist) and Jon is spending his time working through the nuances and multiple ways the expansions can be played to ensure there is quite a bit of replay value.

The Field Guide is really coming together nicely. We want the guide to be thorough enough that it helps Game Masters (both new and experienced) lead awesome gaming sessions, but we also know that no one wants to read a novel... With that in mind, we are aggressively editing to ensure the Field Guide is streamlined and easy to read. As a reminder, each copy of Destination Danger will include the saddle stitched Field Guide packaged alongside the rest of the cards.

For the artwork junkies, here's some new work from Lindsay for the "Rumble in the Jungle" campaign:

Allyson (player character) - co-designed w/ "Super Backer" Joel Studer

"Locals" hired on for a pulp action film... (does that hint at the scenario a bit?)

Temple ruins w/ a mysterious idol artifact

These are all in the process of being put to color and we hope to wrap the artwork for "Jungle" soon so we can start working through "Easter Island". Lindsay's work is incredible, and we can't wait to see how she brings these remaining characters to life!

Oh, and here's one more piece of artwork for you as a tease...

Looks like the Mummy's Heart... :)

BackerKit Reminder

We are at roughly 90% response rate to our BackerKit surveys, which is incredible! Thank you all again for being so responsive to answering our fulfillment survey—even though it may not seem like much as an individual backer, you have no idea how tremendously helpful this has been for us when trying to keep track of all 340 of you!

If you have not yet responded to your BackerKit survey, make sure you do so prior to May 30th so we can lock in your orders before we send order quantities to our manufacturer. If you need to review your information or pledge status, you can return to your survey by clicking the link in your survey email or requesting your survey link under "Lost your survey?" on our BackerKit project page at https://destinationdanger.backerkit.com/

We would really hate to see backers who pledged to the campaign miss out on their fulfillment rewards because they neglected to respond to the survey. Most non-responders have also been contacted via Kickstarter's built-in messaging in case our surveys are hitting your junk mail.

Thank You!

We'll make sure to get updates out a bit more regularly in the coming weeks. We know we will certainly have a lot to share, and we want to ensure all of our are on the journey with us - so stay tuned!

Status Report (2019.03.27) - Pledge Manager goes live tomorrow!
about 5 years ago – Wed, Mar 27, 2019 at 08:41:23 PM

Tl;dr: the BackerKit is ready and is in final review w/ the BackerKit staff to be sent out within the next 24 hours. The Pre-order page is Live for those who missed the campaign!

BackerKit goes live tomorrow!

We've finally finished setting up the BackerKit surveys. Before the survey is sent out BackerKit staff will need to review and approve it, ensuring that we have not made any errors in the setup. The good news is that we've already gone back and forth a couple times to make sure details are correct, so there should not be any further changes required. Once we receive approval to launch, we will send out the survey immediately.

While many of you have previous experience with BackerKit, this may be the first time for others. Both BackerKit and our support staff are here to help you out.

What happens when we launch the surveys?

1. Receive survey via email: Shortly after we launch, you’ll receive an email from us with a special link to your BackerKit survey.

2. Complete survey: Answer the questions about your reward preferences.

3. Select Add-ons: If you want to add something to your pledge or buy a copy of Destination Danger for a family-member or friend, you can do so in the Add-on's screen at backer only prices.

4. Provide shipping info: Tell us your shipping address so that we can send your games once manufacturing is complete and we have them in hand. If you are moving between now and then, no problem! You can always go back to your survey with the original link and edit your address.

5. Enter payment info: If you owe anything extra for Add-ons or Pledge Upgrades, you will be asked to submit payment information.

Notes:

  • You don’t have access to this survey link yet, but it will be available soon via email! Don't neglect to check your junk folder if you have strict filtering in place.
  • You don’t need to create a BackerKit account to fill out your survey. When you receive the email with the survey, click the survey link to respond.
  • If you used your Facebook credentials to log in to your Kickstarter account, the BackerKit survey is sent to the email address you use for your Facebook account. If you have another email address that you prefer to use, please contact support at https://destinationdanger.backerkit.com/faq and clicking on "Need help?".
  •  If you need to review your information or pledge status, you can return to your survey by clicking the link in your survey email or requesting your survey link under "Lost your survey?" on our BackerKit project page at https://destinationdanger.backerkit.com/

Oh hey...can I upgrade my pledge?

Yes. When you receive your email from BackerKit, you are able to upgrade your pledge (as long as you backed the project at any of the offered reward levels). To do this, simply click the "switch your pledge" link shown on the first screen (see below):

Pre-orders are Live!

If you have a friend or family member who missed out and they want to get their own copy of Destination Danger, they will be able to pre-order through BackerKit by visiting our Pre-order page. The prices are not as awesome as being a backer, but you still get access to get in on the first manufacturing run of the game and receive rewards at the same time as backers.

That's it! We are so sorry it's taken a while to get the survey out, but hopefully we avoided a bit of a mess by taking our time to ensure things are setup correctly. If you have any questions or concerns, email us at [email protected].

Status Report (2019.03.18) - Pledge Manager Minor Delay & Playmats!
about 5 years ago – Mon, Mar 18, 2019 at 09:35:15 PM

First and foremost, I apologize that this was a day late. We were unable to meet as a dev team until this evening and I wanted to make sure we had a few details ironed out before sending this out!

Tl;dr: The pledge manager will be delayed ~ one week. We are adding DD themed playmats as add-ons. General development progress updates, including an introduction to Veronica (from Christmas on Easter Island). We need play testers in Houston and online!

Pledge Manager

Hopefully I was transparent enough about a potential delay, and I was unfortunately right... The good news is we are now getting the final information we need from our manufacturing partner to tidy up some of the BackerKit information and we are testing surveys and getting feedback on some of the add-on details. We will launch either later this week or early next, and either way I will send a brief update out ~24 hours before you should start seeing the BackerKit surveys hit your inbox.

Since I've been asked, I will re-iterate that you will be able to purchase multiple copies (max quantity TBD based on shipping limitations) of Destination Danger with and without the expansions, additional signed art prints, and.....

Playmats!

Based on the survey we sent out in a previous update, we are manufacturing Destination Danger playmats as an add-on product. It’s an accessory that we really enjoy for games when you have quite a few cards on the table, so we wanted to make one that you can enjoy while playing Destination Danger!

The Destination Danger playmat is a 14x24 inch, 2mm thick rubber mat, with a stitched edge. This is a optional add-on for those of you that enjoy the feel a dedicated playing surface that makes picking up cards easier and provides a slightly higher friction surface preventing shuffling of all of the Destination Danger cards you'll be placing in front of you.

This playmat will be shipped alongside copies of the game, but will clearly not fit in the tuck box alongside your cards. 😉 Below is a renderings of the playmat to give you an idea of what it will look like.

Development Updates

The Field Guide and a bunch of artwork is under furious development right now. Alternative Maps are looking really good (which we'll share in an update soon), and will provide quite a bit of variation/complexity to games beyond the initial maps we initially developed. The Digital Dangers are also going full speed, including really great 3D printing files, unique screen savers that pull you into the scenes from the game, and more.

The expansions are also progressing incredibly well, and we'd like to introduce everyone to Veronica, our co-developed player character for the Christmas on Easter Island campaign:

Veronica will steal your heart—as well as any information, military plans, or stolen property you have about. She works for the Persephone Agency, a private counterespionage firm, as a retrieval artist, so when important things wander away, she brings them back quickly and quietly, no questions asked. Trained in karate during her youth in the Orient, Veronica also has a penchant for breaking and entering, which suggests training in...something else. Her steel resolve and unwavering diligence are only shaken by her unnatural fear of the unnatural. She knows that she is the not the only thing that lurks in the dark.

Weapon of Choice: Silenced handgun

Thanks again to Chad Kroll, our AMAZING backer, who has been developing Veronica with Jon after picking up the first Get in the Game pledge tier! We will share artwork for Veronica as soon as we have something exciting to share.

WE NEED PLAY TESTERS!

Jon has quite a bit of play testing to still do and will be opening up a bunch of slots in mid-April for both in-person and online games. If you want to volunteer, let us know by shooting an email over to [email protected]. In-person games will be across the Houston, Texas metro area - we'll try and switch it up and be at a couple different locations.

If you would like to be in the loop on when additional play testing sessions are going to take place, join our Destination Danger Facebook community page! Jon and I will be posting most of those invitations there vs. spamming everyone across the world going forward. Again, we hope the community becomes a great place for sharing awesome stories and helping ensure everyone has the best game sessions possible...so join now and be a part of the conversation!

Next Update

The next update will be sent within the next week, once we are ready to launch the pledge manager. Again, we will give everyone ~24 hours notice before it goes out. Until then, if you have any questions or concerns, email us at [email protected].

Courage!
